Flower essences are not physical medications. They do not contain specific molecules of medicinal substances taken from any part of the vegetable plants.
They are prepared by picking fresh flowers still wet with dew and placing them in a clear glass of spring water during the early morning hours. The bowl of flowers is left in bright sunlight for several hours. During this time, a unique process takes place. The energy of sunlight appears to transfer a certain aspect of the flower — the very pattern of its life force energy, directly into the water.
Flower essence preparation usually depends upon the energy of sunlight to imprint water with the healing vibration.
Flower essences are basically spring water blessed with the life force of the flowers transferred to it through the energy of the sun. Each essence is capable of neutralizing a particular negative emotional state of a person. The effects of Bach Flower Remedies are usually perceived gradually over a period of 2-4 weeks. Essence mixtures should be used for at least 6-8 weeks to get the maximum benefit.
While the changes are subtle, they can sometimes be quite profound over a period of time. More and more psychiatrists and psychologists are using Bach Flower Remedies in conjunction with or sometimes as alternative to the conventional psychosomatic medicines such as anti-depressants.
Some mental health practitioners find that these remedies can help individuals reconnect with their true selves and their core issues more powerfully and with longer lasting effects than traditional medicines alone.
After taking the flower remedies for several months, it is not uncommon for different new issues to come to the fore.
When a patient comes for the first sitting, he talks only of those troubles which are most pressing at that time and a prescription is drawn on the basis of those troubles.
If the prescription is correct, after sometimes these troubles vanish completely or substantially then fresh troubles which were either, dormant or were ignored at the first sitting come to the fore. The patient doesn’t refer to the troubles which would have been cured but talks of the new troubles. The doctor should not get upset at his juncture. He should prepare a fresh prescription on the basis of the then condition of the patient.
Once the person’s Bach Flower Remedy mixture is prepared, the remedy is taken in four drops on the tongue or in a small quantity of water 3-4 times a day. The remedy can be taken empty stomach or half an hour before or after meals after rinsing the mouth clean with water.
The remedy should not be put in a foul smelling mouth with betel nut saliva or tobacco-chewing mouth.
Bach Flower Remedies when properly stored in a cool dry place have no expiry date. They should not be exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat or humidity. They should also be put away from televisions, microwave ovens, refrigerators or electrical appliances. The effect of heat, excessive sunlight and strong electromagnetic fields can sometimes wipe out the energetic imprinting of the flower remedies.
